Books Publishing Policies

At IDEA Publishers, we are committed to fostering creativity and innovation in literature. Our publishing policy outlines our submission guidelines, rights management, production process, and author engagement, ensuring a transparent and collaborative relationship with all authors.

1. Submission Policies

Manuscript Format: All submissions should be typed in a readable font (e.g., Times New Roman, 12pt), double-spaced, with 1-inch margins. Please include a cover page with your manuscript title, author name, and contact information.

Word Count: Submissions should conform to the following word counts:

Fiction: 50,000 – 100,000 words

Nonfiction: 30,000 – 80,000 words

Query Letters: Authors must submit a query letter outlining the book's premise, target audience, and author bio. Full manuscripts should be submitted only when requested.

Response Times: Authors can expect to hear back regarding their submissions within 8-12 weeks.

2. Copyright and Rights

Ownership: Upon signing the publishing agreement, IDEA Publishers will hold exclusive publishing rights, while authors retain their underlying copyright.

Rights Reversion: Authors may request the reversion of rights if the book has been out of print for more than two years. All requests must be made in writing.

3. Editing and Production

Editing Process: We offer a multi-stage editing process, including developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading, with author input at each stage.

Design and Layout: IDEA Publishers will design the book cover and layout, ensuring that the author's vision is incorporated wherever possible.

Proofing: Authors will review the final proof of their book before publication for any last-minute changes.

4. Publication

Publication Timeline: Typically, accepted manuscripts will be published within 12-18 months of signing the contract.

Formats Available: Books will be published in print and digital formats (eBooks).

ISBN Assignment: IDEA Publishers will obtain and assign ISBNs for all published titles.

5. Distribution and Sales

Distribution Channels: Books will be distributed through major retailers, online platforms, and direct sales at events.

Sales Reporting: Authors will receive quarterly sales reports detailing the performance of their books.

Retail Price: Pricing will be determined by IDEA Publishers, taking into account market norms and author input.

6. Royalties and Payments

Royalties Structure: Authors will earn a royalty percentage based on net sales:

Print Books: 10%

eBooks: 25%

Any other structure agreed upon between IDEA-PCE and the authors.

Payment Schedule: Royalties will be paid quarterly, with a minimum payment threshold of $100.

Expense Deductions: Marketing costs may be deducted from royalties, provided prior notification is given to the author.

7. Marketing and Promotion

Publisher's Role: IDEA Publishers will engage in marketing efforts, including press releases, social media promotions, and potential book tours.

Author Participation: Authors are encouraged to actively participate in promotional activities, including interviews, book signings, and online engagement.

Marketing Materials: Authors will be provided with marketing kits, including press releases and promotional graphics.

8. Revisions and Corrections

Post-Publication Changes: After publication, authors can request minor corrections to their book, subject to review.

Second Editions: Authors wishing to publish a second edition must submit a proposal outlining the changes or updates made to the original work.

9. Termination Clauses

Terminating Agreements: Either party may terminate the publishing agreement with 30 days written notice under specified conditions.

Effect of Termination: Upon termination, rights will revert to the author, and no further royalties will be paid on sales post-termination.

10. Dispute Resolution

Conflict Resolution: Any disputes shall first be addressed through mediation. If unresolved, disputes may be escalated to binding arbitration.

Governing Law: This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which IDEA Publishers is headquartered.

11. Confidentiality

Non-Disclosure: All parties agree to maintain the confidentiality of proprietary information exchanged during the publishing process.
